Policies
Pool Deck
The pool is our classroom. Parents will not be allowed on deck at any time. Please refrain from speaking to the children or instructors during the class. If you have a question or concern please address it with the Site Supervisor.
Locker Rooms
Please be courteous and considerate of everyone in the locker room facilities. Accompany your child into the locker room of the same sex. Boys over the age of 5 will not be permitted in the Women's locker room. Girl's over the age of 5 will not be permitted in the men's locker room. This includes parents.
In the locker room please use the open space for changing and leave the rest room for those who need to use it.
Viewing Area
Please be respectful of others in the viewing area, on the couches, and when watching television. Keep chairs, bags, and strollers away from pool entrance and exit doors.
For everyone's safety there are NO pictures or video allowed until the last day of class.
Diapers
It is mandatory that all swimmers in the TOT classes, regardless of potty training status wear a reusable swim diaper. A reusable swim diaper is a washable, reusable diaper that has a plastic liner and elastic at the waist and the legs. This is for every child 3 and under.
Children who are under the age of 3, newly potty trained, or not potty trained must wear a disposable swim diaper, such as "Little Swimmers", in addition to the reusable swim diaper, providing three layers of protection.
Bowel movements in the pool can be a health hazard and may force us to cancel classes. Do not substitute plastic training pants or regular diapers of any kind. Please do not buy a size for your child to "grow into" as elastic on the leg openings must be tight enough to contain a bowel movement. Please note that reusable swim diapers do not hold liquids. The chemicals in the pool can more easily deal with urine than a bowel movement.
Registration
Tuition for each session reflects the number of classes in that session. Registration is on a first come first serve basis. Mid-session enrollment is based on space availability and will be pro-rated. Upon registration you will pay the full or pro-rated tuition amount for the session, plus the registration fee where applicable, by check or credit card. No spot will be held without payment.
You will be assessed a $10 handling charge on a declined Automatic transaction. You will be assessed a $20 handling fee for a returned check.
Replacement transactions must be in the form of cash, cashier's check, or money order.
Registration Fees
A registration/insurance fee of $20.00 is due upon enrollment. This fee will be collected the first time a student enrolls each year and every summer session thereafter. This fee is non refundable.
Make Up Lessons
At Long Island Swim School, we believe that children are most successful in a consistent learning environment. Because of that, we encourage you to attend your regularly scheduled swim class as often as possible. Due to our low instructor to swimmer ratio it is not always possible to accommodate make up lessons. Please check the make up policy for each specific session prior to registration. Make up lessons cannot be used as a credit towards another session. We do not guarantee the same teacher for your make up class.
After the first week of the session ALL Make up lessons must be scheduled by emailing the Site Supervisor at your facility Garden City: [email protected], Syosset: [email protected] . Make up requests cannot be taken in person. Once a makeup lesson has been confirmed by the Site Supervisor, it is considered granted and cannot be re-scheduled.
Canceled Classes
When a class is canceled due to circumstances beyond our control you will be notified by email of both the cancellation and the make up for the class. Make ups will be at the discretion of the Site Supervisor. A class is considered canceled or missed if less than 20 minutes of class time was received. If a safety lesson was taught on deck, in lieu of in water class time then the class has not been canceled.
Refunds
Refunds will not be given after the first lesson of the session. Those wishing to withdraw from a class prior to the start of the session must do so in writing by emailing the Site Supervisor. Withdrawals are final. If you change your mind you must re-register.
Medical Withdrawal
Credits toward a future session will be given to those swimmers who are forced to withdraw due to a prolonged medical injury. A request must be made in writing, along with a Doctor's note detailing the dates the student was unable to participate. Credits will only reflect classes missed once we have been notified of the child's injury.
