Long Island Swim School's Toddler classes are open for toddlers between the ages of 1 and 3.5. The Tot 1 and Tot 2 classes are for children ages 2 - 3.5 . The Tiny Tot class is for children ages 12 -24 months and their parents.
TOT 1 is for a first time member to our school. These swimmers receive a 1:1 teacher/student ratio.
TOT 2 is for all others who have already graduated from TOT 1. Children in this class will receive a 1:3 teacher/student ratio. These children are able to separate from their guardian and have the safety device placed on their back without commotion.
The TINY TOT class is for children 12 - 24 months and their parents. The goal of this class is to guide and educate parents as they introduce their children to the pool and all of the fun that learning to swim can be. The ratio for this class will be 1 instructor for every 5 sets of parent and child. Parents will learn how to bring their child into the water safely, how to hold their child in the pool, how to introduce kicking and splashing, and how to react around water with their child.
Children in all of our Toddler programs will learn how to enter and exit the pool safely, to become comfortable in the water, with the use of a floatation device, and kicking and splashing in the pool. Most importantly they will learn that learning to swim is fun!
Children in the TOT classes should come prepared in their bathing suit. ALL SWIMMERS in the TOT classes are required to wear a double swim protector under their suit to be able to enter the pool. They are available for purchase if you do not have one. Children with long hair should have their hair pulled back and away from their face. Towels and shoes will be left outside of the pool with a parent.
