$20,000 for Australia - Thank you!
3 weeks ago we set a goal to raise $3,000 for the wildlife in Australia. The last week in January Long Island Swim School students joined our competitive swimmers on LIAC and challenged themselves in different ways. Their efforts made a difference. Today we are proud and excited to announce that we have achieved our initial goal 6 times over! Long Island Aquatic Club and Long Island Swim School combined to raise $20,000 for WIRES Wildlife Rescue and the animals affected by the wildfires in Australia.
While the number is exciting, we are excited that so many of the ATHLETES got behind the cause. 290 of you to be exact! Your caps, posters, outfits, and enthusiasm brought so much more to this effort than just a dollar sign. Your caring attitude and eagerness to get behind this cause was remarkable. As swimmers, we team up in our lanes to train, and behind the blocks to race, but it's nice to know that we can team up to do incredible things outside the pool as well. So congrats Long Island Swim School, and thank you to the team behind the swimmers who donated. We couldn't be prouder!

Dear Long Island Swim School & Stroke Clinic Families,
As you know, Australia is being affected by unprecedented brush fires. Millions of animals have been affected as their habitats are destroyed by fire. Our competitive team - Long Island Aquatic Club - started a fundraiser to help: LIAC's Australian Challenge. Our swimmers are challenging themselves at practice in order to raise money to send to WIRES - a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation program in Australia.
After watching the success of our team with this challenge (more than $5,000 raised in 72 hours), we're raising our goal to $10,000 and we thought we would challenge our Swim School and Stroke Clinic swimmers as well.
The last week of January (1/25 - 1/31) will be the Swim School's Australian Challenge to #SwimForTheAnimals. All swimmers will be challenged to do a skill appropriate for their level during their class. See below for specifics. We encourage your swimmer to bring a drawing, poster, sign, or even their favorite Australian stuffed animal that week. We will be happy to take a photo to recognize their accomplishment!
